wet buleuelueclue
from the Re-huggable Art series
2025|Wet blue leather, tight coat, acrylic

This work was created in the spring of 2025 during an artist-in-residence program at L-AIR in Himeji, Japan.
It marks an early attempt to explore the possibilities of “paintings that can be touched,” and serves as the foundation for the exhibition currently in development.

This piece seeks to gently resonate with each viewer’s personal memories and emotions, free from binary judgments like “understandable” or “not.”
Leather, once a living material, holds warmth that—when touched—may quietly awaken what lies dormant within us: forgotten sensations, emotions, or subtle inner shifts that elude words.

The title “wet buleuelueclue” combines buleuelue—a poetic rendering of the raw, unfinished state of wet blue leather—and clue, a gentle nod to introspection.
It evokes the feeling of reaching out toward something not yet fully formed.

This painting is only complete when touched.
Please feel free to place your hand on it and engage in quiet dialogue with the work.

And if you do feel something—however faint—perhaps try sharing it with someone.
What was the texture like? Rough or smooth? Did it carry a scent?
You might even take a photo and ask, “Do you think this feels hard? Or soft?”
Such a moment of interaction could unexpectedly connect you to a memory tucked away in some corner of your mind.
